Metro Open Early for April Fools

Metrorail to open at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 1, for Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run

Metrorail will open two hours early -- at 5 a.m. -- on Sunday, April 1, for the benefit of customers traveling to the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-mile Run.

The race staging area is on the Washington Monument Grounds. To get there, take the Blue or Orange line to Smithsonian Station and exit at the National Mall exit. Other nearby stations include:

• L'Enfant Plaza 0.8 miles from staging area; served by Green, Yellow, Blue and Orange lines)
• Metro Center (0.9 miles from staging area; served by Red, Blue and Orange lines)

To avoid lines after the event, race participants are encouraged to load sufficient value on their Farecard or SmarTrip for their return trip. Also, remember to protect your Farecard from moisture by storing it in a plastic bag while you run.
